How to create your own success - Tips to get you there!

Updated: Dec 5, 2021

Many people see success as an external factor that can only come to you with the blessings of others. However, success is something that you create for yourself, a choice that you make. Your thoughts, actions and words are entirely your own, as well as your attitude. It is not impossible to keep moving forward when life pushes you back or tries to hold you back. First, you have to determine what success looks like for you. You can use visualisations or write out a list that defines success for you.

It's about taking deliberate and purposeful actions to make your life better and making conscious decisions that lead to improved outcomes. It would help if you took the time to reflect on your choices and their impact on your life.

Think long-term, focus on the next phase, not on the past. Find time to do what you enjoy and love to do. Do things that will make you happy and proud, and spend time with people who will support you.

Instead of striving so hard to achieve what you couldn’t accomplish, give yourself credit for the things you did accomplish.

Question: How can you create your own success? Let's start with the basics.

Decide on the nature of success that you want

There are many kinds of success that you can achieve. There is career success, family success, financial success, and even social success. But, it is up to you, your goals, ambitions, and aspirations that which success you choose.

If you want to be successful, it is of utmost importance that you set your goals. One of the best ways to do this is to identify your values.

  • What is important to you?

  • What do you believe in?

  • What makes you the happiest?

  • What do you want the most out of life?

  • What goals do you want to achieve in the next 3 months?

Once you have a clear understanding of your values, they will aid you in setting the type of success you want. Ask yourself exactly what you want in your life and how you're going to get it. After you write down all your answers, it's easier to take action and make the steps real so you get closer to achieving your success.

An action plan is a tool used to ensure you are on the right track to achieve your goal. Action-plans can be created for any goal you have, whether it's at work or in your personal life. It should be a clear, concise outline of all the steps necessary to reach your goal and actions that must be taken when each step is completed. No matter what your goal is, an action plan is a key to success.

Use SMART Goals

Specific: Target a specific area for improvement.

Measurable: Quantify or suggest an indicator of progress for measurable goals.

Achievable: Specify who will do it and how.

Realistic: State what results can realistically be achieved, given available resources.

Time-related: Specify the target date or general time frame when the result(s) can be achieved

For Example

Improve Your Time Management Skills

Be more focused on achieving daily tasks.

Minimize distractions and increase productivity by, say, 40% over the next 3 months.

Create to-do lists or using scheduling apps on your phone to keep you on track.

Set up reminders to stay organized and make sure you don’t forget anything.

Review what worked best for you.

Let go of any self-limiting beliefs that block your progress.

Limiting beliefs hinder your ability to achieve your goals and dreams, and they are one of the many reasons why you might not be getting where you want to in your life.

For instance, if you believe that you will never lose weight because you have a slow metabolism or that you will never be successful because you are not smart enough, then you're not giving yourself a chance to cultivate your abilities.

Stop being your own worst enemy!

Understand that your awareness is part of what creates your reality. It's one thing to know that change is possible, but quite another to manifest it. Words have power and learning how to use them effectively can be the difference between success and failure. If a thought, feeling, or action no longer serves you, choose something else instead.

Recognise your strengths and weaknesses

When building your self-confidence, you must know what you are good at.

  • What do you like to do?

  • What comes naturally to you?

  • What do you enjoy?

Be honest now. A skills assessment test is a great way to determine your strengths and weaknesses. When you realise your strengths, you can start doing the things you excel at. With this information, you can start focusing your energy in the right direction. You can use your strengths to improve your success.

Explore personality assessments

Personality assessments can recommend types of work that would be suited to your persona.

Please be aware that some may charge you a fee to release your final report.

We all have weaknesses. Unfortunately, we cannot be good at everything!

  • What are your weaknesses or things that you’d like to improve about yourself?

  • And how might they be adversely affecting your personal success?

For example, a weakness can be letting go of a project. Reframe your weakness into a solution by integrating it into the core of your life/business.

For example, you can say, "My weakness is that I am not very good at committing time for reviewing my project, so now I set deadlines and dedicate time to avoid any last-minute alterations.

If you devote yourself to your project, then you will see what you are accomplishing and what needs to be tweaked. Giving up or devoting insufficient time to your project will only stunt your success.

Readjust your goals to achieve success

Setting goals is easy, but you know what's harder? In fact, by the time most people are on the verge of achieving their goals, they've often lost interest in them, either because the goals were too hard to reach or because they were never really as important as they seemed in the first place.

Sadly, it's all too easy to give up when things get challenging. However, if you can learn to pick yourself up, re-energise and readjust your goals, you'll be able to turn goals into achievements.

How can I do this? Well, it may mean developing a contingency plan. Bumps along the road may scupper your success, so it is wise to have alternatives.

Review what is not working for you at the moment - would can you do differently? Ask for feedback or go online, find out information, watch topic related tutorials, do you need to spend more or less time on something?

You may need to say no to certain people or time-consuming activities. No matter how you look at it, it's OK to readjust your goals along the way to achieve success because nothing is textbook-perfect in real life.

Work hard to achieve your goals

Success can be achieved regardless of starting points. You don't have to be the most intelligent, most talented, and most beautiful person in the room to be successful. What you have to do is to be willing to work hard and be persistent. It takes incredible dedication and commitment to achieve your dreams.

Talk to other successful people to gain a better perspective on your life. Hearing about their challenges and their accomplishments can help you increase your self-confidence. Talking to others is also one of the best ways to overcome obstacles.

People are always looking for shortcuts. They want to know how to get to the top of the mountain without having to climb it. You don't need a fantasy of success and Hollywood myths. All you have to do is put in the hard work, determination, and grit required to reach your goals and never give up on your dreams.

Conclusion

Do not give up on your success. Use these tips to boost self-confidence so you can reach your goals and succeed. Every morning, take the time to set your intentions for the day and reflect on them during the day. Review what you accomplished every day, identify your wins, and keep moving forward. Success is always just around the corner.
